  1. Birds

British Columbia

The photos in this gallery were taken in several places around British Columbia...from as far east as the Elizabeth Lake Sanctuary in Cranbrook, BC, as far west as the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary http://www.reifelbirdsanctuary.com) in Ladner, near Vancouver on the mainland, Victoria on Vancouver Island, and as far north as Tumbler Ridge. Many of the images (particularly the hummingbirds) were made right here at home in Castlegar.

Thank you. I'll review other pictures of the quail and would like to have a print. I'll check out the rest of the website and decide which one. Thank you for the return msg Bruce.

Hi Frances, No, just one species of California Quail...the differences in the colour of these two images can be attributed mostly to the different light...the bird on the rock is in very late afternoon sun, and the other photo was made on a very cloudy day.

Really nice pictures. Are there specific quail in the Okanagan that have a red tuft at the top of their head? or are thee two different species when one appears blue and brown and others look brown and orange?
